When to Hire an Electrician for Appliance Repair

We have good news and bad news. The bad news is that major appliances like your washing machine, dish washer, and clothes dryer will eventually have some sort of breakdown. The good news is that you don’t necessarily have to hire an appliance repair person to come out and fix the problem. In many cases, simple electrical problems can be handled by your favorite local professionals.  See the areas we serve here.

Here are a few examples of times you can call your skilled contractor.

Air Conditioning Breakdowns

Your air conditioning system runs primarily on electricity. Unless you are positive that there is a problem with a specific piece of equipment your electrician can’t help with, call your electrician to take a look at the problem. Sometimes, air conditioning breakdowns are a result of blown fuses or faulty wiring – things an electrician can quickly identify and correct.  If they cannot correct it, they will refer you to a qualified HVAC specialist.

Washers and Dryers

Washing machines and dryers require a ton of electricity to run properly. If you live in an older home, you may not have the proper hookups or fuses to handle that type of energy flow. Washers and dryers that suddenly stop running may do so because there is a problem with the fuses (because your circuit breaker needs to be upgraded) or because there is a problem with the connection running into the appliance. Have your electrician check your appliances for electrical safety the next time he’s in the house.

Lighting Problems

Are your lights, dimmers, outside flood lights, stove overhead lights, or fridge lights acting funny? Your favorite electrician should be able to help you identify the cause of this type of problem as well.

The reality of the situation is that you may not need to pay extra for an appliance repair person to come to your house but you really should not risk attempting to fix these types of appliances on your own, either.
